For more than a decade, Chinese winemakers have been making their mark on the global wine scene, and not only has the country become one of the world's top ten producers by volume, but more and more wineries are producing wines of a quality and complexity that are a joy to behold. Vast areas of land across Ningxia and Gansu provinces are filled with vineyards that are carefully sorted and expertly vinified using advanced technology and bold nosing - comparable to what you would find in Bordeaux or Napa Valley. On the 7th of December 2023, our Institute will have the honour of hosting winemaker Peter Winter from the Georg Müller Foundation in Eltville am Rhein, as a guest in Leipzig. Winter knows the Chinese wine market intimately and has expertise in pairing Chinese dishes with the appropriate wine.
